MBABANE – Are Manzini Wanderers scared of fielding Leon Manyisa because of the ongoing EFA Disciplinary case?

This was the question that lingered on many fans minds at Somhlolo National Stadium on Sunday when the talented youngster was not included in the match day team inspite of earlier insistence by his team in the media that they will field him. Wanderers took the sting out of Tinyosi in a 2-0 win on Sunday in the Last 32 stage clash of the Ingwenyama Cup.
Yesterday, the hub giants refuted claims that they did not field the player because they were afraid of losing the ongoing Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Protests and Disciplinary Committee case.

Malanti Chiefs lodged a protest after Manzini Wanderers fielded Manyisa who they claim is double-registered. The player in question scored the winner where Wanderers won 1-0.The gifted midfielder is fresh from a reported botched deal in Armenia, Europe. The case which was supposed to be heard about a month ago had to be postponed as Wanderers cited that they got the summons late. They claimed the 48-hour minimum period for a notice was not met. Just last week the matter was rescheduled to this evening as Malanti pointed that the EFA had not furnished them with Manyisa’s registration documents. They claimed that it would be unfair to deliberate on the matter without the documents in questions.
Reached for comment, Wanderers CEO Sandile ‘Ntofo’ Dlamini said the player had a groin injury.

Afraid

“We are not afraid of fielding Manyisa. He was injured that is why he was not part of the team this weekend. Otherwise if he was well he would have featured in the Ingwenyama Cup,” Dlamini said. He went on to say that if he recovers in time for this weekend game against Mhlume Peacemakers, he would play. Meanwhile Manyisa confirmed that he was injured.
“I got injured on Thursday. It was muddy I fell badly on the pitch during a training at Trade Fair and got injured on the knee,” he said. Meanwhile the EFA Marketing and Communications Officer Muzi Radebe said they cannot comment on the matter because the matter was pending before the DC.
