MBABANE – Ace golfer Nobuhle Dlamini has narrowly missed out on winning the SuperSport Ladies Challenge.

After leading ahead of yesterday’s decider in South Africa, the Lobamba-born golfer fired an unwelcome 76 to finish third. Her rounds of 68, 69 and 78 saw her finishing on three-under-213 and three shots shy of the top spot in the second event of the Sunshine Ladies Tour. She pocketed E26 560, which is a share from the E400 000 purse.

In essence, Dlamini has won E49 560 in six days’ time. The 27-year-old netted E23 000 last Friday when she finished second in the first SLT event of the new decade in Cape Town.
Despite the setback, the big-hitting golfer managed to finish ahead of other top golfers from around the globe who included 12-time SLT winner Lee-Anne Pace from South Africa. The latter, who won the first SLT event of 2020, played in Cape Town last week, ranked fifth yesterday.

According to information sourced from the event’s official website, Lejan Lewthwaite from the host country was the champion. She finished on six-under-par 210.
Dlamini conceded that she did not have a good day ‘in office’ yesterday but promised to work on the missed opportunities.
“It was a slow tough day. I hit two bad shots that took me out.

“Otherwise the game is solid. I will be working on that shot that cost me dearly in preparation for my next event,” she said.
With the SuperSport Challenge out of the way, focus shifts to the Dimension Data Challenge for Dlamini on Valentine’s Day (February 14). Up to E700 000 will be up for grabs. This was the first tournament Dlamini won in the past year to set the tone for a flawless 2019.
