MANZINI – They were simply the best.

Five of the country’s swimmers raised the bar high during the Eswatini Swimming Association (ESA) National Championships where they were crowned national champions. They are namely; Hayley Hoy, Simanga Dlamini, Robyn Young, Luca Fraser and Damien De Sousa.

The duo of 22-year-old Simanga Dlamini and 13-year-old Damien De Sousa shared the best senior swimmer (Senior Victrix Ludorum). Dlamini, who is among the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games-bound athletes, showed a good heart as he gave the trophy to De Sousa, who will keep it.

He said he had won the trophy many times and to encourage the young swimmer to continue working hard, he had to give him the trophy.
“I believe he deserves it more than I do and it will encourage him to continue working hard. I have won it many times, except for last year. It was a good competition and the young stars are raising the standard” he said.

The awardees accumulated the highest number of points in their categories and they breaking a national record were adding more points for the swimmers. All the winners are from Swim Lab Club that dominated the championships in terms of winning and numbers.
