COVID-19 MIGHT END MY CAREER- MANYISA
MBABANE - Manzini Wanderers star Leon Manyisa has come out to say that the coronavirus might cost him his soccer career.
Manyisa, who last year saw his contract being terminated by FC Van from Armenia, is currently not playing because the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Disciplinary and Protest Committee put him on ice. He was found to be a defaulter when he featured in a Premier League match against Malanti Chiefs yet he had made an appearance for FC Van. The former Vovovo star last played a competitive match on December 2, 2019. This was during Wanderers’ 1-0 win over Chiefs in a Premier League match at Somhlolo national Stadium where he scored the winner through a superb free kick. For the player to return to action, Wanderers must acquire the Reversal International Transfer Certificate (RITC) from Armenia. They can do this by liaising with Eswatini Football Association (EFA) who helped facilitate the move between two football associations.
Comment
In this case it is the EFA, Armenia Football Association and of course the teams, his former team Vovovo (or agent) and FC Van from Armenia. When reached for comment, Manyisa confided to the Sports Desk that he was getting worried as there seemed to be no end to when the league was likely to resume. “I have been following the news around the world about this pandemic. It worries me that the league has gone on a two-month break and to make matters worse, it is not guaranteed that action will resume. “That means prolonged no game time for me because I learnt that I can only play at the start of the 2020/21 season,” the Elangeni High form IV pupil said.
Positive
“I wish the 2019/20 season may be called null and void so that I can get game time and in doing so I am positive that I will return to my top form to keep my dream of playing overseas alive. “Right now as things stand, my soccer career looks dead and it worries me because I have so much to offer to the world,” the Real Madrid target said. When asked what he was doing to maintain his fitness, Manyisa said he trained by himself. “I train every day and I used to play in friendly games. I also played in school games to maintain my fitness level. However, right now it’s very tough because schools are closed and the team is not playing friendly games,” he said. Manyisa has been linked with a move to Malaysia, Spain’s Real Madrid, and Highlands Park. He also trained with Mbabane Swallows before he was snatched by Manzini Wanderers.
