BAR OWNER ARRESTED DESPITE FAINTING
MANZINI – A bar owner who failed to comply with the COVID-19 regulations learned the hard way that evading arrest is not an easy task.
This is because despite collapsing and fainting, police officers patiently waited for her to regain consciousness and she was arrested thereafter. This was revealed by National Commissioner of Police William Dlamini yesterday during the launch of the Asset Forfeiture Unit (AFU), which was held at the Matsapha Police Academy. Dlamini said given that the public was aware of the coronavirus (COVID-19) Regulations, 2020 that were issued by government in response to controlling the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, they expected people to comply.
As the police, he said they wanted to reiterate that these regulations would be enforced on non-cooperating individuals, groups and or entities, hence their plea for compliance.
He assured government and the nation that police officers were already on the ground, alongside other security forces to ensure that the law was adhered to. According to Dlamini, so serious were the law enforcers in enforcing the regulations that they waited patiently for the bar owner who had collapsed and fainted after failing to comply with the regulations and effected an arrest as soon as she had regained consciousness.
Dlamini also emphasised the fact that defying the regulations came with hefty fines, which was why the members of the public should ensure that they abide with the regulations as much as possible.
