MBABANE – Young fitness fanatic Nontsikelelo Mdlovu of Nontsie Fitness has seen her services increase during this partial lockdown.
Mdlovu (21), who is very passionate about fitness, is rendering online gym training sessions.

The Times Sports Desk got in touch with her to find out more about her and her services.
“Since high school I’ve always had the dream of having some sort of fitness service that I tender to people, to help them achieve their fitness goals as well as helping them adapt and maintain a healthy lifestyle,” Mndlovu said.
Asked where she drew her inspiration from, she said;

“My inspiration is vast, I can’t really point out one particular scenario or situation. I completed high school in 2017 and enrolled at Euro Africa Campus studying Sports Science and Management. In mind I wanted to be a trainer or fitness coach,” she said.

“I met a couple of amazing people along the way, such as Sandra Groening, who is a body builder and owner of Fitness factory Fitswazi in Manzini. She taught me all I know and I draw inspiration from her. Zama owner of Studio Z as well is another candidate that I draw inspiration from. These women basically are my role models and I learn from them daily,” she added.
When quizzed how she conducted her sessions, she highlighted that;

“How I conduct the gym is in two different ways. I do personal training which is basically house calls. And also, I do train people online. In both scenarios I personally create training programmes and share them with my clients while demonstrating the different exercises in the programme. I take them through the workout and make sure to get feedback from them,” she pointed out. “I started providing these services August 2018 and to me personally fitness is the key to a happy life. One of my big motivators is the Bible. 1 Timothy 4 verse 8 where it says ‘For physical fitness is of value and the word of God is more valuable and can be used anywhere and everywhere.”

She stressed out the importance of exercising.
“Staying fit and healthy basically improves your whole body physically, because it strengthens the bones and muscles of the body, improving respiratory and cardiovascular systems, so they function better. It also helps maintain a healthy weight and improves overall mood of a person, while reducing the risks of sicknesses like some cancers, heart diseases among others,” she disclosed.

She also revealed that during the COVID-19 era, she had conducted most of her training online as compared to house calls.
“And during this pandemic, I’ve taken my session to an online platform because even though we are on lockdown, it doesn’t mean your fitness goals should be on hold. This is actually a great opportunity for others to finally start their fitness journey, making it part of their lifestyle.

Fitness and health does benefit us greatly because it also boosts our immune system which puts us in a better position for our bodies to fight off some diseases,” said Mdlovu.
For those who wish to do the online training sessions, they can contact Mdlovu at 7988 7462 or send messages on WhatsApp at 7644 7462.
