ONE-YEAR E70K ‘BIRDS’ LOAN DEAL FOR MANYISA
MBABANE – After all has been said and done, Leon Manyisa has finally joined Mbabane Swallows.
Swallows beat Mbabane Highlanders and Manzini Wanderers to the signature of the 20-year-old star, as initially revealed by this newspaper two weeks ago. The Times Sports Desk gathered that Swallows Manager Sandile ‘Beyond’ Zwane, together with the team’s legal representative, Welile Mabuza, were spotted at Elangeni High School finalising the deal with the player in the presence of Sports teacher Njabulo Nhlabatsi.
The deal is reportedly worth E70 000, with E40 000 for the loan fee while E30 000 is signing on fee. The player is expected to net a E7 500 monthly salary.
According to a statement released by Mbabane Swallows, through their Marketing and Communications Manager Mancoba Mabuza, the starlet has signed a one-year-loan agreement with the red and white glamour side.

“Eswatini’s oldest surviving football club and one of the most reputable football brands on the African continent, Mbabane Swallows Football Club, has signed Leon Manyisa from Vovovo FC on a one-year loan agreement,” Mabuza said. “We confirm that everything is now in black and white; the player has signed and we hope that this puts to an end the speculation and talks that have been going on for some time now,” he added. He went on to assure Swallows fans that they were still looking at bolstering their current squad.
“Once all signings have been concluded, the Club president shall accordingly unveil all the players in a manner that is consistent with the Swallows culture of doing things,” he said. He also added “Welcome home Leon Manyisa!”
When reached for comment, Vovovo Director Sipho ‘Tsetla’ Bhembe wished the player well. Vovovo is Manyisa’s parent club, where he started his football career and attracted interests from other Premier League teams.
“It is true that Manyisa has joined Mbabane Swallows on a one-year loan contract. This was his team of choice. This might not sit well with Mbabane Highlanders and Manzini Wanderers, but it was the player who decided to join Swallows,” Bhembe said.
Manyisa started being a household name when he was playing for Vovovo in the National First Division. While in the Premier League, he joined Manzini Wanderers on a year long contract this season. Few games into the start of the 2019/2020 season while playing for the hub giants, he was snatched by FC Van of Armenia in September last year but unfortunately his contract was terminated a month later by the European side.
He was forced to return to his former team Wanderers, where he played a single game but was frozen due to FIFA rules not permiting him to play for three clubs in one season.
Interestingly, in the previous season, Manyisa was involved in a tug-of-war between Wanderers and Swallows. At one point, the capital city giants unveiled Manyisa as one of their new signees but the player went on to join Wanderers on a one-year loan contract.
