MBABANE – Denver Sundowns FC player Kaylen Henwood is eager to join the Malaga City Academy programme in Spain.

The 18-year-old player is currently playing for the first team at Denver Sundowns FC and is determined to reach for the sky in his football career. Henwood is currently being linked with South Africa-based Multichoice Diski Challenge sides and according to a source close to the matter, negotiations for him to move to South Africa are still in the pipeline.

Amid all the talks, the player continues to shoot for the stars as he submitted an application to join the Spanish football residential academy.
“Thanks for submitting your application to FC Malaga City Academy. We’ll be back in touch as soon as we can,” read a typeform sent to Henwood on behalf of the academy.

Opportunity

FC Malaga City Academy is represented by players from across the world, coming from over 35 countries and six continents, giving players an amazing opportunity to connect with like-minded people from different walks of life.
The academy gives a player more than just football coaching. It provides them with an opportunity to be fully submerged in the life of a professional player for a full 10-month season.
The programme includes training for six days per week, an unrivalled fixture programme, access to some of the region’s finest coaches and tailor-made development plans for improvement. As derived from the FC Malaga Academy website, the club is built with one goal in mind and that is to develop and enhance players both on and off the field.
As the success of the players has grown over the years, so has the academy’s infrastructure and projects as they now offer four different footballing projects ranging from Under-19 Academy Football, Under-23s and Senior Teams.

Accepted

“I sent the application on Monday and I would be happy to be accepted into the programme.
“My dream is to play in Spain where there a bigger platform and exposure to European football. My goal is to get signed by a team and if that does not happen, then I will implement that skill and knowledge here at home,” said Henwood.
An estimate of annual average expenses for a player to move to Spain is over E500 000 and this covers travelling, accommodation, daily allowances, food and clothing among other expenses.
The ambitious player said his family was willing to pay for his expenses and hoped to get a positive response from FC Malaga City Academy.
