MHLUME - Inspiration!

Tennis juniors were inspired to be the best they could be during Saturday’s training camp. The Eswatini National Tennis Association (ENTA) held a two-day training camp at Mhlume Club, where juniors were preparing for upcoming events, including the Acers second series edition to be held on September 12-13, 2020.

Present during the event was new vice president Cyprian Dlamini, JTI coordinator Bongani Kunene and new ENTA executive committee member and Mhlume Tennis Club Coach Gabi Mkhabela among other distinguished guests.

Dlamini said they were very much excited for supporting and being present during such important development programmes.

“What I discovered is that the coaches and parents work hand in hand in assisting the children develop in the sport.

“I wish to congratulate the association with this good initiative and assisting the juniors to compete and be the best they could be.

Objective

“The objective for them (juniors) should be to supersede the current best such as Bruce Gama,” he said.

The vice president also added that their mission, in their new four-year term, was to ensure that the current crop of juniors achieved more than what the current players have managed.

Meanwhile, Kunene applauded the attendance of the juniors and the support parents have rendered. He noted that the juniors were in the development programme and from there they were to upgrade to the inter-medium and finally to elite players.

Explaining the stages, Kunene said, from development, juniors upgraded to semi-professional stage before elite (professional).

The coach further highlighted that they wanted to instil technical knowledge, which he explained to be understanding grabs, skills, forehand, backhand and saves just to mention but a few.

Kunene said it was very encouraging to see members of the executive attending such events, the vice president in particular.
