MBABANE – Former Mbabane Highlanders forward Patrick Meso inspired South Africa’s Moroka Swallows in their promotion to the elite league.

Meso was part of the Highlanders team in the 2015/ 16 season while the club was still under the leadership of Bheki ‘Rubber’ Simelane.

Swallows were crowned the GladAfrica Champions on Sunday and got promoted to the Premier Soccer League (PSL) elite league.

He is not the first former Highlanders player to feature for Moroka Swallows as did striker Cisse Boungouta.

Meso came into the spotlight with his dribbling skills.

He also made the headlines when Highlanders demanded about E500 000 clearance fee as South African teams including Moroka Swallows, Umthatha Bush Bucks and Mbombela United wanted to sign the player.

Swallows FC players are smiling all the way to the bank today after the club confirmed they will share all the prize money after clinching the GladAfrica Championship title.

Meso is expected to now play in the biggest league in Africa and helping his team get promoted will see them earning big as Swallows Boss David Mogashoa confirmed that the club’s players and technical team would share the E3 million prize money in the GladAfrica Championships.
