‘BULL’ RAKED IN OVER E2M IN 2019/20 SEASON

MBABANE – Mbabane Highlanders were the money-makers of the 2019/20 season.
The ‘Black Bull’ were the overall highest earners - taking home over E2 million.


The EswatiniTelecom Charity Cup champions raked in about E2 155 570 including prize monies and the gate collections for the whole season. Highlanders started the season on a high as they pocketed E1.1 million for winning the EswatiniTelecom Charity Cup.
They also went home with E500 000 for being runners-up in the Ingwenyama Cup, where they were beaten 2-0 by Green Mamba and they collected almost the same amount in gate collections.

Highlanders were still part of the last eight teams in the EswatiniBank Cup before football was suspended on March 13, 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic. This is contained in the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) 2019/20 activity report presented to clubs during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Happy Valley Hotel on Saturday.
Highlanders are under the leadership of South Africa’s Businessman Ally Kgomongwe.


Ingwenyama Cup Champions Green Mamba were the second earners as they took home about E1 805 252 in the past season. The money include the E1.4 million for being the Ingwenyama Cup champions, E100 000 for finishing fifth in the MTN Premier League and E305 252 came from the gate collections.


Army side Young Buffaloes raked in about E1 474 000 million including the E1 million for being MTN Premier League champions and MTN Premier League first round toppers and E124 210 from gate collections and the army side was still part of the EswatiniBank Cup quarter-finals.


Mbabane Swallows, who finished runners-up in the MTN Premier League, cashed in less than a million as they only got awarded the E500 000 for being second in the league and E306 278 came from the gate collections.
