FRIDAY DEADLINE TO COMPLY WITH CAF CLUB LICENSING

MBABANE – The EFA has given premier league teams until Friday to comply with CAF Club Licensing requirements or risk being denied registration for the new season.

EFA stands for Eswatini Football Association (EFA), the country’s football governing body while CAF is an acronym for Confederation of African Football.

Apparently, the teams were given this deadline during a special CAF Club Licensing workshop organised by the EFA to educate them ahead of the new season. This means teams have basically two days to meet these requirements or face the consequences as already stated. Worth noting is that CAF has released revised club licensing requirements for the 2020/2021 season, which could pose challenges for some local teams.

obligated

Under the new CAF Club Licensing requirements focusing on sporting, teams are now obligated to set up two age groups for junior structures as minimum standards. The first group should consist of players between the age group of 10-15 years and those between 16-21. Sporting emphasises more on development and ensuring that the two age groups for juniors are met.

There are actually five pillars under CAF Club Licensing, including sporting and these are infrastructure, personel (administration), legal and financials. EFA’s Marketing and Communications Officer Muzi Radebe confirmed the deadline set for the teams, warning strongly that those who will not abide could face serious sanctions.

requirements

“It is true that premier league teams have until this coming Friday to comply with the requirements of CAF Club Licensing. The workshop was meant to educate them about those requirement and they know what is expected of them going forward. The teams were also informed that they must comply with the requirements by September 25, 2020 (Friday),” Radebe said. Asked on the penalties to be meted out on those who fail to comply, Radebe was evasive.

“Issues of penalties for those that fail to comply are administrative but what is important is for the teams to meet the requirements because failure to do so will come with consequences,” Radebe warned strongly.

Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Chief Operations Officer (COO) Pat Vilakati also asserted these developments. “I can confirm that our members are currently busy putting together all the documentation regarding CAF Club Licensing as required by the EFA. We are positive that they would all comply by the set deadline, which is on Friday,” Vilakati said.
