MSUNDUZA HIKE FOR A GOOD CAUSE
MBABANE – It’s a hike like no other. The City Council of Mbabane, in collaboration with Woza Nawe Tours, has organised a one-of-a-kind hike up the trails of Msunduza Township to the peak of Fonteyn.
The event is slated for Sunday morning starting at 7am.
This multi-dimensional hiking event presents an opportunity for people to tour the natural trails, caves and mountainous scenery of Mbabane, while helping people to improve health and fitness through the 5.2 kilometre hike route.
Participation fee is E150 per head and E1 200 for a team of 10 people.
Only pre-bookings confirmed before mid-day on Saturday. The fee will include a healthy breakfast upon return to the starting point from the peak of the mountain.
Attendants will also be empowered with health tips on training and nutrition that will be shared by professional coaches and nutritionists.
Special attention is guaranteed to everyone including the elderly, children as well as people with disabilities.
proceeds
Woza Nawe Tours has also partnered with Hands of Paul, an organisation working with people with disabilities and helps to raise funds to assist with basic needs of some of the beneficiaries who are hugely affected by COVID-19 and are not able to go outside and beg in the streets.
The proceeds of this hike will be donated to the organisation.
One of the event organisers and tour operator, Mxolisi Mdluli, encouraged the nation to grab this opportunity to become tourists in their own country and stand to enjoy the benefits of exercise in the natural outdoors.
Mdluli said this initiative also presented business opportunities to small and medium enterprises in the township.
“This is a hike like no other and we plan to host it every last weekend of the month. Everyone is catered for so I would encourage locals to join and become tourists in their own country while staying fit and healthy. Physical exercise is the best amour against any kind of illnesses and virus. It is a hike for a good course as it will benefit the needy,” said Mdluli.
assured
He further said that the next hike would include a camp at the crown of the mountain and participants will pitch tents, network and share ideas around a bon-fire.
He assured them that tight security will be provided with the help of the community elders and the police force.
“We have bigger plans to expand the hike in future events and that includes a camp at the mountain top, overlooking the entire city of Mbabane from all angles. We are still working on it and we hope that this will materialize in the next event,” added Mdluli.
Mbabane Municipal Council’s Information and Public Relations Officer (IPRO) Lucky Tsabedze extended an invitation to local companies and organisations to support this event and promised them a unique experience.
significance
“We are trying to open up the city of Mbabane to visitors and also teach them about the historical significance of Msunduza Location. What is more exciting is that the trail route has challenging obstacles, hills and slopes which is good for physical exercise. We are hoping to get a lot of support as we plan to make it bigger and better,” said Tsabedze.
