MBABANE – All will be out seeking three points.

Defending champions Young Buffaloes will be tested by one of the country’s best in their first match of the MTN Premier League title defence when they meet another ambitious side in Mbabane Swallows. The ‘beautiful birds’ have made it no secret that the goal was to go back to play in Africa and all hell will break loose when they meet the holders in Buffaloes this afternoon. The focus for now is entirely shifted to the MTN Premier League for the army side. At a pre-match press briefing at Sigwaca House on Friday, Head coach Sabelo Mnisi said they were well-prepared for the league match against the capital giants.

Players are ready

“The CAF page is closed, the focus is on the MTN Premier League match. We have prepared for it and the players are ready,” he said. Mnisi added that being active with the national team for most of the team players has helped them and they were now starting to gel, something that was difficult to achieve. Buffaloes are the country’s CAF envoys as they are taking part in the Champions League and have managed to progress to the second preliminary round to face DR Congo’s AS Vita after a win against Burundi’s Le Messager de Ngozi in the two-legged preliminary round. “We know Mbabane Swallows and we respect them, but I can assure you all that we are prepared for them,” said Mnisi. He added that they had an injury-free squad, but Wandile ‘Skosh’ Shabangu, who was yet to be examined by doctors to determine if he will be fit for the match after a knock. Swallows’ Christopher Ennin said he was privileged to be part of the ‘beautiful birds’ and said preparations were going well. He said for Swallows, it was currently a matter of organisation and team building.
