MHLUME – First impressions last.

New Milling Hotspur signee Sanele Dlamini announced his arrival in the premier league in style after scoring the first goal of the 2020/21 season. Milling signed the youngster from Villa Stars, who play in the Manzini Super League. Dlamini did not only score the first goal but he achieved this in a record time of six minutes into what was otherwise a fairly-balanced game to give his side at least a point against the 2018/19 MTN Premier League champions. The diminutive star intercepted a well-timed cross from Bandile Shongwe to beat Thokozani Mkhulisi at the Green Mamba poles with a low tap-in to stun their much-fancied opponents.

The Caleb Ngwenya-led Green Mamba tried to cancel out the scoreline but the visitors did not make it easy for them as they kept their backdoor shut. The Correctional Services outfit who were without former AS Vita’s star Mthunzi ‘Xavi’ Mkhontfo tried all they could but Milling’s goalkeeper Mlungisi Mamba made a number of brilliant saves to deny them sniff at goal. He stopped a Khethokuhle Mkhontfo header in the half hour mark, which looked headed for goal. However, it was not long before the scores were levelled as Green Mamba found the equaliser with just two minutes to spare.

Unleashed a volley

2019/20 Ingwenyama Cup player of the series Njabulo Tfwala unleashed a volley from the edge of the box after catching Mamba off his line. The second half was nothing to report home about as there were no clear-cut scoring chances for the entire remaining 45 minutes. The game was watched by Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Vice President Dr Comfort Shongwe, Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Chief Operations Officer (COO) Pat Vilakati and Manzini Regional Football Association (MRFA) Chairman Johannes ‘Ace’ Siboza to mention only a few. Noteworthy is that all the officials and players were checked temperatures and sanitised on entry.
