MBABANE – Sihlangu head coach Dominic Kunene has urged Sihlangu players to have courage in these difficult times.

Kunene said the news of Gcina ‘Magiyane’ Dlamini’s untimely death was hard to believe. “He called me on Wednesday and informed me that he was off to Pigg’s Peak Government Hospital. I thought he would get better since all I knew was that it was a common cold. However, I was shocked to learn he is late. What I can say about ‘Magiyane’ is that respect was his middle name. He used to respect everyone regardless of their age,” Kunene said.

He said he was the best assistant coach he could have asked for at national team level. “His motto was that he was a problem-solver. He came with solutions where it seemed we had reached a dead-end. He was an easy person to work with and football has lost a valuable person in him. I appeal to Sihlangu players to be strong during these difficult times. He used to relate to all the players and the players loved him,” Kunene said. He then passed condolences to the football fraternity and the Dlamini family and friends. Meanwhile, one of his Sihlangu players, Njabulo Tfwala, said he was still speechless. “We lost a hero in ‘Magiyane’; he was a friend to all the players. He was a father-figure to me. His approachable manner made  it easy for us to relate to him even outside the field of play,” he said.
