BUFFS FACE AS VITA ON JAN 6
MBABANE – Army side Young Buffaloes are heading to war in their second round of the CAF Champions League preliminary round against AS Vita.
The second leg match is billed for AS Vita 125 000 seater Stade des Martyrs, Kinshasa, DR Congo next Wednesday (January 6, 2021). The first leg match played at the Mavuso Sports Centre on December 22, 2020 ended with a 2-all draw.
Both teams will meet in the second leg having not been in action since the first leg. Buffaloes were due to play Royal Leopard in the MTN Premier League in the security forces derby at Mavuso Sports Centre on Saturday. The game has since been cancelled with the rest of the week three and four fixtures giving way for Incwala and COVID-19 assessments. Buffaloes are expected to leave the country for DR Congo on Sunday.
History
A win for Buffaloes will see them going through to the CAF Champions League group stages for the first time in their history, where there is a carrot of about E8.4 million. If they are eliminated, they will downgrade to the CAF Confederation Cup.
The Sabelo Mnisi-led side need a win or a draw of more than two goals to go through. They face a mountain to climb after allowing AS Vita to score two goals towards the dying minutes of the first leg match.
