TIMER MTHEMBU’S CREMATION TODAY
MBABANE – The late Mbabane Highlanders and national team legendary soccer player Timer Mthembu will be cremated today at Dups in Manzini.
People who wish to pay their last respects to the former soccer legend can attend his memorial service scheduled for today at the Mbabane Methodist Town Church, starting at 11am. According to one of the deceased’s sons, Veli Mthembu, after the memorial service, all roads will lead to Manzini Dups, where Mthembu will be cremated at 3pm. He disclosed that only family members would be allowed to attend the cremation ceremony.
“Our father Timer Mthembu will be cremated tomorrow (today) at Dups in Manzini after a memorial service, which will be held at Mbabane Methodist Town Church. Only family members are welcome to join us at Dups at 3pm,” said Mthembu.
Appreciation
He further extended appreciation to everyone who supported the Mthembu family during these trying times, including the Eswatini Football Association, Mbabane Highlanders and members of the public in various sectors. Mthembu was said to have passed away in the morning of the New Year’s Eve, while at his home around 9:30am and was taken to Mbabane Government Hospital where he was certified dead upon arrival. According to Veli, the family was only informed at the hospital that Mthembu had died from COVID-19-related complications. “We only learnt that our father had COVID-19 when the doctors tested his corpse at the hospital,” said Mthembu.
