MBABANE – A gentle giant has fallen.

Manzini Wanderers’ followers yesterday woke up to devastating news that one of their prominent directors and loyal follower, Thembumenzi ‘T-Man’ Nxumalo has sadly passed away after a short illness on Tuesday. Like tongue and saliva, his love for the maroon and white giants was inseparable as he was instrumental in assisting the club enlist the services of their current director based in Nelspruit, South Africa. ‘T-Man’, as he was affectionately known by his close friends, was actually overseeing the day-to-day running of the hub based side as he enjoyed a good working relationship with the Nelspruit-based director who is yet to be officially unveiled to the ‘Weslians’ faithful.

Social

He was also a recognisable face in local social circles and shared a close bond with a number of Wanderers’ top officials, in particular, the late former club’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Pat Mahlalela, among others. News of his untimely demise was met with disbelief and grief not just by Wanderers’ followers, but a lot of people from his home area in Corporation, Mbabane, where he grew up. Wanderers’ Management Committee Chairman Rueben ‘Rhoo’ Nxumalo, said they were still trying to come to terms with the news as a club.
“We are still finding it difficult to believe that our director is no more. It is hard to talk about it because to some of us, he was not just a director, but a family friend. We send our deepest condolences to the entire Wanderers family for the loss. He was instrumental in bringing on board the new director,” Nxumalo said.

Dreams

He said they were hoping the new director would put trust in the MC to fulfil the dreams of ‘T-Man’ for Wanderers this season. One of the family members contacted, said they were still dealing with the trauma of their loss and would not want to comment for now. It is expected though that the late Wanderers’ director would be laid to rest this weekend but details of the funeral are yet to be officially confirmed by his family.
