’DOWNS SUPPORTERS APPLAUD MOTSEPE, REJOICE
MBABANE – Rejoice for Africa.
Mamelodi Sundowns Eswatini Branch supporters have congratulated the club’s boss Patrice Motsepe for being elected as new CAF president. The supporters committee Secretary General, Sabelo ‘Mambane’ Gwebu, said Motsepe’s good leadership skills and vast experience in business management would help transform African football to match international standards thus benefitting every stakeholder involved in the world number one sport.
expertise
“The eloquent skills and expertise he has applied in successfully running Mamelodi Sundowns over the past decade are a testimony that he will indeed transform African football. Today Sundowns is counted as one of the best teams in South Africa and Africa as a whole and this is due to his love for the sport and his soft spot for uplifting underprivileged people. Whatever he touches turns into gold because he has passion in everything he does and is one person who accommodates every character,” said Gwebu.
The supporters committee welcomed the managerial changes that unfolded following Motsepe’s election. They extended their well wishes to former University of Eswatini (UNESWA) lecturer, Rejoice Simelane, who assumed the position of the club’s Deputy Chairperson, while his (Motsepe) son Tlopane hold the reigns as the Chairman and Dr Precious Moloi - Motsepe as advisor. “We believe all appointed officials will steer the ship to safer waters and continue to make Mamelodi Sundowns one of the most successful teams in South Africa, Africa and the whole world,” said Gwebu.
appointment
Commenting on the appointment of Simelane as vice chairperson for the club, Gwebu said they believed that her business acumen and passion would help to develop young and upcoming footballers to realise their dreams. “When we celebrated our 50th anniversary in November 2020, Dr Simelane donated soccer kits to young boys. We are also proud as Eswatini supporters that the former president has entrusted Dr Simelane with this new task,” said Gwebu. He further said they believed that the Eswatini-born administrator would also motivate the growth of the Eswatini supporters’ branch.
