It may look even like a perfect excuse of not only buying time but giving in to mediocrity. But the immortal words of Aristotle that ‘patience is bitter but its fruit is sweet’ seems to be the guiding principle for new Athletics Eswatini and astute administrator, Zakhele Dlamini as he sprints towards turning our athletics lemons to lemonade. Dlamini, a lawyer by profession, who left an indelible mark as Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Chief Executive Officer, also shares some pearls of wisdom with the organisation currently going through a transition period.
“The root cause is the calibre of the individuals that make it to the PLE BOGs. They remain rooted in their primary reason for existence which is protecting their personal and club’s interest instead of the PLE. This then results in regular clashes with the CEOs office,” he says matter-of-factly.
