MBABANE – Desperate times call for desperate measures!

This common adage was used by Mbabane Highlanders National Supporters’ Committee (NSC) Chairman Kenneth Dlamini after the team supporters petitioned their Managing Director (MD) Chief Ally Kgomongwe’s royal family. The petition was signed by a total of 52 supporters which include the NSC, branch chairpersons and other supporters.

Requesting

The black and white side is requesting the Kgomongwe household to allow Ally to continue as Highlanders boss for the next three years, which is when his five-year contract will come to an end. This follows reports that the director will be stepping down at the end of the season due to work commitments in his home country. Drawn for comment, NSC Chairman Kenneth Dlamini confirmed these developments as they have requested for patience from the director’s family despite the pressure he is obviously under.

“What we asked is that they allowed him (Ally) to continue as our director until his five-year term elapsed so that he would finish his plans for the teams, some of which were already underway,” said Dlamini. The chairman disclosed that they were still waiting for a response from the royal family as Ally had told them that he (Ally) had to go and meet his family and discuss the issue in person rather than through a phone call. Ally was also reached and confirmed the news, stating that he held Highlanders players and supporters close to his heart but the pressure was from his family.

“There are now too many responsibilities for me and they (royal family) including the queen mother, are very concerned about my health,” said the chief. He said he was running a lot of structures, including his team in South Africa, the Ally’s Tigers. “I have worked hard to see Ally’s Tigers with four straight games to hold second position in the ABC Motsepe League. I also have to run my businesses, I must attend to the royal family politics and now I have a new role as I am venturing into the mining business so there is just too much on my plate and fatigue is creeping in,” he said.
