NSINGIZINI MATTER DEFERRED
MBABANE – Delayed.
This, after the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Appeals Board and Protests and Disciplinary Committee failed to form a quorum yesterday at Sigwaca House, where the matter between Nsingizini Hotspurs and Amalanda was to be heard. By extension, Manchester will not have an opponent on Saturday because their opponents are still to be decided. Nsingizini were docked three points during the playoffs against Amalanda for allegedly fielding a double-registered player. During the playoffs in the Shiselweni Region, Hotspurs played Amalanda at King Sobhuza II Memorial Stadium, home and away on November 22 and 29, 2020.
Protested
The losing side protested against the fielding of an alleged double-registered player by Nsingizini. The protest was heard by the Protest and Disciplinary Committee on November 27, 2020 and three days later a ruling was issued, upholding the protest in favour of Amalanda, which was awarded three points and three goals. Nsingizini took the chairperson of the EFA Appeals Board and Protests and Disciplinary Committee, SRFA and the PLE, among other respondents, to court, over the manner in which it missed out on a spot in the first division league. At the High Court, Hotspurs was seeking a review of the Appeals Board and Protests and Disciplinary Committee to rule in favour of Amalanda in its protest against the fielding of Sebenele Dlamini and dismissing its (Hotspurs) appeal.
Ruled
The court ruled that the committee did not follow the provisions of the Competitions Rules in Article 9(1) when making their ruling and should hear the matter once more before they make a ruling. The matter ought to have continued yesterday but failure for the committee to form a quorum resulted in a deferment of the matter. The presiding officers who were present included the Chairman Manene Thwala, who confirmed that the matter had been postponed to Tuesday as they did not form a quorum. The other presiding officer was Polycarp Ngubane.
