KWENZOKUHLE A HERO FOR G. MAMBA
MBABANE – Bulky striker Kwenzokuhle Khumalo was the hero after inspiring Green Mamba to a 3-2 win over newcomers Tinyosi.
Khumalo scored a brace in the first half with Sihlangu diminutive midfielder Njabulo Thwala scoring the winner in the last half to give Green Mamba all three points. The maximum points were the confidence booster for Caleb Ngwenya-led charges after suffering a humiliating 3-0 defeat at the hands of Mbabane Swallows in their last game on Easter Monday. Despite the win, Green Mamba remain on the ninth spot with seven points. This is after Denver Sundowns won 2-1, beating Malanti Chiefs at the same venue yesterday. Tinyosi on the other hand dropped one place from the sixth spot.

It was a tightly contested encounter and either team could have won but at the end of the day the visiting side were eventually winners.Tinyosi were denied two goals by referee Celumusa Sphepho for offsides. The home side opened the scorer’s chart 34 minutes into the game after Njabulo Gama beat Sibonakaliso Vilakati with a powerful shot at the edge of the box to make it 1-0. The Correctional side levelled matters through brace-hero Kwenzokuhle Khumalo after finishing from close range five minutes later.
The home side almost made it 2-1 but Sibonakaliso Vilakati made a beautiful save to deny Muhle Dlamini a header with five minutes to spare. The Sifiso ‘Nuro’ Ntibane- led charges thought they were leading but referee Celumusa Sphepho ruled a Njabulo Gama volley which was an offside a minute later. With minutes to go before break, the visiting side scored against the run of play. It was brace-hero Kwenzokuhle Khumalo who headed from a Njabulo Thwala cross. Muhle levelled matters for home side after he benefited from a spilled ball from goalkeeper Vilakati in the 73rd minute. National team asset Njabulo Thwala made it 3-2 following a powerful shot from close range beating goalkeeper Muzikayise Mtsetfwa with 11 minutes to spare.
