‘BIRDS’ CHARGED!
MBABANE – They have a disciplinary case to answer.
On-form Mbabane Swallows have been slapped with charges of misconduct by the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE). This follows the abandonment of their recent MTN Premier League clash against Royal Leopard at the King Sobhuza II Memorial Stadium in Nhlangano. The red and white glamour giants could not produce registration cards during the game in question, forcing the match officials, led by match commissioner William ‘Mantongomane’ Shongwe to call it off. Shongwe subsequently submitted his match report to the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) and information gathered was that charges have not only been preferred against the Mbabane giants but they have been served with them as well.
interesting
The interesting part is that Swallows will be appearing before the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Disciplinary Committee (DC) alongside their sworn rivals Mbabane Highlanders, who have also been charged with misconduct. The two Mbabane rivals will appear before the DC on Thursday evening (tomorrow) at Sigwaca House, exactly two days before they face each other in the much-awaited Mbabane derby on Saturday at the Mavuso Sports Centre. Highlanders were charged after their physical trainer/assistant coach Siyabonga Bhembe was cited by match officials as allegedly having uttered abusive words towards Leopard officials, in a game which ended in a 2-all draw.
remains
Whether or not their date with the DC will have any psychologically effect when they meet in the field of play remains to be seen but they face huge sanctions if found guilty of the offences as stated in their charge sheets. Highlanders were initially supposed to appear before the DC last week but the matter was postponed to this week under unclear reasons. PLE Chief Operations Officer Pat Vilakati was evasive when asked about Swallows charges, stating that it was an issue between them and the affected club. “We did receive the match reports of the game you are asking me about but the contents cannot be shared with the media. Our prosecution team has been busy with the charges based on the match reports and the DC will sit anytime this week to hear the matters. I cannot say which club has been charged until they appear before the DC,” Vilakati said, without wanting to give much away.
