‘BULL’S ALLY GETS ANC APPOINTMENT
MBABANE – His star keeps rising on the political sphere.
That is Mbabane Highlanders Managing Director Ally Kgomongwe, who has been appointed convenor of South Africa’s governing political party, the African National Congress (ANC) Ward 29 Lesley Moatshe branch.
Kgomongwe, a lifelong ANC member, will chair his first meeting on Worker’s Day (May 1) at the Barseba Community Hall. According to a poster flighted on social media pages of the branch, the meeting will address branch and ward leadership and service delivery issues.
Also in attendance will be members of the South African Communist Party (SACP), Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) and South African National Consumer Union (SANCU). Interviewed yesterday, Kgomongwe confirmed his appointment and how he is ready to serve his organisation in the new role. “I am a loyal cadre and always ready to serve the people. I will have my first meeting on Saturday and as a result, we had been planning a party for the Highlanders supporters this weekend but we might have to postpone to May 9 because I need to attend the Ward 29 meeting on Saturday,” he said. Kgomongwe said he has also fortified Highlanders technical bench with the arrival of a South African Masilonyana Maloka as team trainer. Maloko’s first game was the big Mbabane derby on Saturday which ended in another goalless stalemate like it did in the last meeting between the two capital city giants on December 22, 2019.
