MALANTI CHIEFS ‘STING’ TINYOSI
NHLANGANO – Resurgence.
That’s the best one can describe Malanti Chiefs 3-2 win over Tinyosi in the MTN Premier League game here yesterday. This was their second victory of the season after 16 matches with the first one having been achieved at the expense of Manzini Wanderers on April 21. Despite the win, Malanti Chiefs are still at the bottom of the table with nine points and they are now two points behind Mhlume Peacemakers who play Royal Leopard tomorrow. Malanti’s win came under care-taker Sibusiso ‘Spoko’ Dlamini, who was in charge in the absence of Coach Raymond Dlamini.
Malanti Chiefs had to dig deep to snatch the victory having seen Tinyosi come back from a 2-0 to force a 2-all draw before the latter went to slumber in additional time, allowing Malanti to snatch a late win. The first golden chance of the match landed on Tinyosi’s Mphucuko ‘Smoothies’ Dlamini, who missed the target while six yards out. While Tinyosi were reeling from the missed chance, Malanti Chiefs capitalised through Zweli Fakudze, who scored with a well taken ground shot just outside the box that easily beat goalkeeper Sisekelo Maseko in the 25th minute. In the last five minutes of the first half, Tinyosi were all over the Malanti defence but failed to create clear scoring chances. The second half started with Tinyosi dominating and it came as a shock when Malanti Chiefs increased their lead in the hour mark through Sandile Mazibuko, who tapped in a pass from Muhle Shiba.
Reduced
Tinyosi were able to turn the tables with 20 minutes remaining as they reduced the deficit in the 70th minute when Njabulo Gama easily beat oncoming goalkeeper Xolani Gama by looping the ball over. A magical moment was then witness when Lwazi ‘Shumi’ Mamba’s long dive 25 years landed at the back of the net to make it 2-all. Malanti Chiefs then snatched the winner with a minute remaining in the four minutes added time and substitute Felisberto Boucuane was let inside the box and he unleashed a powerful ground shot that ended at the back of the net. Tinyosi are now fourth from the bottom of the table with 13 points after 16 matches while they started the season on a high.
