WELL-ATTENDED COACHES’ WORKSHOP
MBABANE – The Eswatini Football Coaches Association (EFCA) yesterday organised a well attended coaches workshop at Sigwaca House.
The EFCA had invited the coaches to discuss a number of topics that included the coaches association, match analysis, recovery and regeneration, the work of a coach in a team and football drills, planning and implementation of the drills. The facilitators of the workshop were the Chairman of EFCA, Musa Mamba, and Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Technical Director (TD) Boy ‘Bizzah’ Mkhonta. First to address the coaches was Mamba, who thanked the coaches for attending the workshop. “I thank you all coaches for the attendance, it is overwhelming to see you in such a great number,’’ he said. He then briefed the coaches about the history of the association. “This association was a brainchild of Fritz Seilbea and was formed in 1987,” Mamba said. The core objective of forming EFCA was to influence the direction of football in the country. He also said that the other main objective of the association was to develop coaches and maintain a high standard of coaching in the country.
qualified
“You become a full member once you are a qualified coach and be in good standing,’’ he said. Mamba said the joining fee was E100, the subscription fee was E200 and the EFCA works hand in hand with the TD, who is an employee of the EFA, in educating the coaches. Mamba urged the coaches to read the EFCA Constitution very well to avoid any confusion. He then asked the coaches to guard and protect the integrity of the association. When addressing the coaches, the TD, Boy ‘Bizzah’ Mkhonta, said every coach should register with EFCA. “Currently, the association has 160 coaches who are registered,” Mkhonta said. He further said all coaches in the Premier League should have Confederation of African Football (CAF) A License. In the Women’s League, coaches should possess CAF A, B and C Licenses.
“You should renew you licenses every year,’’ he said. He continued to state that once a coach failed to renew his license, he or she would not be eligible to coach in the premier league. He then started to educate the coaches. The reason why a team hires a coach is to develop the players to be great and to perform to the level they want,” he said. The TD further said a coach should be able to do internal and external audit of the team he worked for. He also said that a coach had development stages such as qualities, training philosophy and good personality to be able to communicate well with the players and be able to analyze the behaviour of each and every player.
intelligent
“As a coach, you should be intelligent and should be able to communicate and solve problems within the team,’’ he said. The recovery and regeneration part was discussed by Musa Mamba, who said after training or playing, the players would need a recovery session.
