INCENTIVES FOR VOVOVO CHAMPS
MBABANE – Vovovo FC players’ hard work of getting promoted back to the MTN Premier League will be financially rewarded.
The Motshane-based outfit earned E75 000 for being first round leaders and E180 000 for being champions in the MTN National First Division league making it E265 000 in total. The players will get a large chunk of the E180 000 for being the champions with a game remaining. Vovovo were confirmed champions on Sunday when they won 1-0 against Madlenya at Prince of Wales Sports Ground. After the victory, they were presented with the trophy and the cheque by MTN representative Nokwanda Kunene, who was in the company of Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Executive Member Charles Matsebula. This will not be the first time the players are smiling all the way to the bank as they shared half of the E75 000 first round incentive.
Vovovo Director Sipho ‘Tsetla’ Bhembe said they had to reward the players for the hard work during the season. He said they were happy that they had reached their goals of getting promotion to the elite league and winning the first prize money. “We have still not discussed how they are going to share the money as the season is not yet over. Surely the players will be getting something after their hard work. They are happy and we are happy. It is the team that will discuss how they share what is going to be given to them,” he said. Bhembe highlighted that it was a norm that the team got incentives when they had achieved something. Vovovo will face Hlatikhulu Tycoons in their last clash of the season at King Sobhuza II Memorial Stadium today; kick-off 2:30pm. Vovovo under Tobias Ntfuli were unstoppable during the season as they only lost two games and drew four from the 25 matches they have played so far. They are leading Rangers who have also sealed their promotion status with nine points.
