‘KABASA’ WANTED ‘BIRDS’ IN CAF
MBABANE – He passed away before realising his dream of seeing Mbabane Swallows playing in the CAF inter-club competitions.
That is the late Swallows official Thulani ‘Kabasa’ Lukhele, who passed way on Sunday morning due to COVID-19-related complications. Swallows’ Bhekithemba Ginindza, who spoke on behalf of the club during the memorial service held at the All Nations Christian Churn in Zion, Ezulwini yesterday, said they were still shocked by the passing away of Lukhele. Lukhele will be laid to rest this morning at his home area, Nedso in Shiselweni II Inkhundla. Ginindza said the late Lukhele wanted to see the team playing at the highest level in the continent that is either in the CAF Champions League or the CAF Confederation Cup.
Swallows finished third on the MTN Premier League and they could not make it to CAF Confederation Cup but instead it’s Royal Leopard and Young Buffaloes who would be campaigning in the CAF tournaments. “On behalf of the Mbabane Swallows family, we send out condolences to our president for the demise of his brother, whom he trusted in running of the club.
benefitting
“He was always present for our games and we did very well under his presence in majority of our games. It is unfortunate that we had to spend such a short tie with him. We were still looking forward at benefitting from him,” he said. Ginindza added that Lukhele had left a challenge that whoever took over or handed the duties, would have to meet the standards set by him. His words were echoed by Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Chief Operations Officer (COO) Pat Vilakati, who spoke on behalf of the organisation.
