‘PUMA’ NEW PIRATES CEO

MBABANE – Elevated to a bigger role.

That is the latest news for Moneni Pirates’ long-serving manager and Public Relations Officer (PRO) Mlungisi ‘Puma’ Simelane – call it a loyalty reward for the official who has been through thick and thin with this club. Simelane knows spending from his own pocket to keep the fires burning at Pirates. For all his time and dedication, he is today the team’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This follows the club putting in place a new Management Committee (MC) ahead of the 2021/22 football season. Pirates MC comprises President Osborne Nzima, Twoman Masuku as Manager, Sidumo Lukhele took the Secretary position, while Thembinkosi Dlamini is the treasurer. The club’s Welfare Officer is Gugu Dlamini.

According to impeccable sources, the MC list was shared by the interim National Supporters Committee (NSC) to their membership yesterday morning. The source said the NSC chairman would be elected in due course.  Sought for comment, Nzima confirmed Simelane’s appointment, saying he was the rightful candidate for the position. “Yes, I can confirm that Mlkungisi Simelane is the new club CEO. He is qualified for the position and we believe that he will take the team to greater heights,” Nzima said. Meanwhile, Simelane said the MC would do all in its to develop the team. He highlighted the challenges faced by some of the teams who are struggling financially due to the absence of fans in the stadiums and appealed to all football lovers to vaccinate for COVID-19. “We are an organised and focused element driven by passion. We will do all we can to improve our team but without fans. It’s going to be a difficult task because football needs emotional and physical support,” Simelane said.
Simelane further said he would carry on his duties as the PRO.
