PROS PRACTISE WHAT THEY PREACH
NHLANGANO – They took the lead.
Majority of the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) spokespersons have already vaccinated for the COVID-19. This comes after they joined the Back to stadium vaccine campaign’ second roads show in Nhlangano on Saturday where they declared that they have taken the jab. The teams PRO’s have joined in football supporters in calling the nation to vaccine for things to go back to normal, especially the fans wanting to return on football venues to watch games. The MTN Premier League and the MTN National First Division is expected to kick-off in two weeks’ time.
Royal Leopard Public Relations Officer (PRO) Frank Hurube said he had never felt any side effects since he took the jab. He said the vaccine was now the only hope to fight the COVID-19 that had hit hard football financially. “There are lot of negative things that are said by people who are not well versed with the vaccine. The vaccine is here to help us and we have to come together and all get vaccinated as that will help us to go back to normal,” he said. Hurube said he believes that only vaccinate people will be allowed to go to stadiums and you will have to produce the vaccine certificate as a gate pass. “I have a song in my mind that goes ‘Liphi ithikithi lakho’ so it is important that everyone gets vaccinated and be ready to return to stadiums,” he said.
Some of the spokespersons that have vaccinated include Denver Sundowns Thabiso Manyatsi, Young Buffaloes Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sandile Gwebu, Hlathikhulu Tycoons PRO Sandile Masuku, and Green Mamba CEO Mandla Sibiya. Some people who vaccinated on Saturday during the road show included Mbabane Swallows Nhlangano Supporters Branch Chairman Barcelona Sibandze, Shiselweni Regional Football Association (SRFA) Rudolph Saulos, Mbabane Highlanders marshal Sizolwethu Mlipha, Tambankulu Callies PRO Mnotfo Dlamini among others. Over 800 people vaccinated during the road show and all thanks to the dedicated super fans who did the about 3km walk around the town sensitising the vaccination. The Minister of Health was stationed at the Zama Zama Complex where the vaccination and the road show was held.
