MBABANE – Former Eswatini Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (EOCGA) CEO Muriel Hofer believes that there is a lot to be achieved by the current Board.

Hofer, who is a member in the Adam ‘Bomber’ Mthethwa-led executive, said the board members were experienced in sports and they would have to use the achievement by Sibusiso ‘Swazi Bolt’ Matsenjwa in the 2020 Olympic Games as a stepping stone. Hofer was giving advice during the appointment of Maxwell Jele, who has been appointed the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the next four years. Muriel is among the longest serving members in the organisation as she had served as a member and in administration.

Some of the experienced administrators in the board include the President Mthethwa, who is long serving former President of the Eswatini Football Association (EFA), Victor ‘Mavikane’ Dlamini, who has served almost at all levels in sports administration, Nhlanhla Maphanga, who is the current President of Basketball of Eswatini (BA) and Hofer.

“EOCGA will be celebrating its 50th anniversary next year and that is a big milestone.  I believe in Jele and he had all it takes to take the organisation to greater heights. Everything is not achieved overnight but through hard work. The performance of Sibusiso in the Olympics must be a stepping stone and take it from there. His achievement comes after a long-term programmes and I believe that this will be a successful journey,” she said.

EOCGA President Mthethwa said they would soon be presenting their new strategic plan for the organisation and they were looking forward to interesting times.
