NO TEAM CAN RUN WITHOUT ELDERS – PIRATES’ OSBORNE
MBABANE – Moneni Pirates elders Chairman Osborne Nzima believes every team needs elders as they are the backbone of any team.
He was reacting to the comments made by the club’s supporters, who questioned the role played by the team’s elders during the National Supporters Committee (NSC) elections on Saturday at the Manzini National Library. The supporters tasked the newly-elected NSC headed by Mpendulo ‘Shushu’ Dlamini to meet the elders and set a date on which they would inform them about their role in the team.
The ‘Sea Robbers’ supporters felt that the elders did not add any value in the team as they made crucial decisions that were derailing the progress of the Moneni Buccaneers. Nzima said he heard about the supporters demands, but wondered how the team would be run without the elders.
attend
“I want to know if the supporters ever attend the elders’ meeting first. They want the team to hang in the air without elders?” Nzima enquired. He wondered what would happen to the team once the current MC’s term in office came to an end because the supporters were of the idea of taking the team away from the elders. The former player, however, promised that he would make time to meet all the relevant stakeholders of the team. “I will try to meet them so that I can explain to them the role of each and every group in the team’s structure,” he said.
advices
Nzima further said that some teams refered to elders as patrons and these people were there to give advice to the teams. “You can’t run a team without these people,” he briefly said. Nzima, however, assured the supporters that they would meet them and discuss the issue amicably, stressing that there was no way a team could be run without elders.
