ALLY’S REIGN END IS NIGH!
MBABANE - South African businessman Chief Ally Kgomongwe’s reign as Highlanders Managing Director (MD) will end in two weeks’ time.
The Times Sports Desk has reliably gathered that Kgomongwe, through his attorneys PM Tshabalala Incorporates, has informed Mbabane Highlanders Patrons that this month’s salaries will be the last to be paid by their client (Alfred Tebello Kgomongwe). The letter written on December 1 was addressed to the Highlanders Patrons secretary Musa Masuku. The Times Sports Desk has gathered that the Highlanders Patrons have worsened the impasse on the club’s registration as a company by not responding to the letter.
“The least they could have done was respond to the letter because Ally raised issues about some of the names of people they had suggested to be part of the directors as some of them were there before and when they left, they took everything including equipment belonging to the club,” a source close to the matter said. The source further stated that Highlanders Patrons are suggesting that the club be registered as a public company, which Kgomongwe is not pleased with. Kgomongwe’s lawyer, Mandla Tshabalala, stated in the letter to the Patrons that after a meeting held in October, Kgomongwe raised issues he was not happy with, which had not been addressed over a month later.

Reached for comment, Kgomongwe said he had communicated everything to Highlanders Patrons through the letter from his lawyer and nothing had changed. Patrons Secretary Masuku declined to comment on the issue last night. “I have no comment on this issue,” he said briefly. Kgomongwe was handed a five-year contract at Highlanders in May 2019 and won his first trophy, the 2019 EswatiniTelecom Charity Cup, ending the ‘Black Bull’ nine-year wait for a trophy. He has been spending over E300 000 per month running the country’s most successful football club with salaries costing E258 000 monthly. Highlanders are currently placed on the second spot on the MTN log standings following the demoralising 1-all draw with a rigid Manzini Sea Birds at Mavuso Sports Centre on Saturday.
