LEOPARD STRETCH LEAD TO 4 POINTS
KALANGA – A 2-0 victory over Denver Sundowns saw the police side, Royal Leopard, extend their lead at the summit of the MTN Premier League to four points.
This was during the pending fixture between the two sides, which was supposed to have been played two weeks ago but had to be postponed because ‘Ingwe Mabalabala’ were due to honour a CAF Confederation assignment against Algeria’s JS Kabylie. The Eswatini CAF envoy made their intentions known, 10 minutes into the game as Zweli ‘Mlilo’ Nxumalo delivered a gift-wrapped cross, which was connected by Barry Steenkamp unmarked in the box. The striker’s effort missed the target with few inches. Leopard should have taken the lead five minutes later, but returnee Menzi Sithole’s lame shot inside the box was easily collected by Sundowns keeper Felizwe Vilakati.

The Edwin Matsebula-led side were given a soft penalty by the referee after Sifiso Maseko was adjudged to have pulled Wandile ‘Shaka’ Simelane inside the box.
Leopard Skipper ‘Mlilo’ made no mistake from the spot, as he slotted the ball at the back of the net 40 minutes into the game. The youthful Sundowns did not create any scoring chances in the first 45 minutes of the game. Leopard dominated the game, with ‘Mlilo’ pulling the strings in the belly of the park. Sundowns coach made a double change bring Langelihle ‘LD7’ Dlamini and Siphamandla Maseko for Mduduzi Khumalo and Philane Maziya.
On the other hand, Leopard coach Edwin Matsebula rested Barry Steenkamp, Mlilo and Shaka for Thabiso Mokenkoane, Bongane Ndzimandze and Thokozane Dlamini respectively. The changes brought more life into the game, as Leopard added another goal 20 minutes before full- time through substitute Thokozane Dlamini who benefitted from a pass by Bongane Ndzimandze on the left flank to make it 2-0 in favour of the police side. The police extended their lead to four points at the summit of the log with 19 points out of a possible 21 while Sundowns dropped from position eight to nine with Green Mamba, who have a game in hand against bereaved Vovovo FC, moving to position eight without kicking a ball in anger.
