LEOPARD LOSE, JS KABYLIE WIN
MBABANE – While Royal Leopard are licking their wounds after the 2-3 defeat by Moneni Pirates in the MTN Premier League, their CAF Confederation Cup opponents JS Kabylie enjoyed a 1-0 win in their domestic league.
The two teams are expected to play their second leg match of the CAF Confederation group qualifiers match next week. Leopard will be going to this second leg match with a 1-0 lead and the winner between the two sides will join group B in the group stages that comprise of South Africa’s Orlando Pirates, JS Saoura (Algeria) and Al Ittihad (Libya).
It was Leopard’s first defeat this season after nine games. They continued to be on top of the table despite losing, leading Mbabane Highlanders with a point. JS Kabylie lies eighth on the 18 teams league log standings with 14 point after nine games while Leopard has collected 22 out of the same number of matches.
Leopard PRO Frank Hurube said they will be working hard at training while waiting for the Confederation of African Football (CAF) on new dates for the second leg game.
“We were not expecting to lose against Pirates but the game of football is just like that. It is a wakeup call to us that we can still lose matches especially once we lose focus. That game is in the past now and we are looking forward to our next match against Tinyosi,” he said. Hurube who is among the long serving teams PRO’s in the country said the loss will not distract them in their preparations for the JS Kabylie match. He said they will remain focused on that game while waiting for the dates from CAF.
