MBABANE – Royal Leopard attacking winger Bonginkhosi ‘Manyovu’ Dlamini is set to join Angola’s Grupo Desportivo Sagrada Esperance on a two-year contract.

The deal is reportedly worth E300 000, according to an informed source at Leopard. The 31-year-old is due to leave the country on Thursday for Angola, where he is set to sign on the dotted line. A source close to the matter said the deal was almost done. Sagrada Esperance Coach Roque Sapiri has lived up to his words after the two-legged clash between them and Leopard in the CAF Champions League second preliminary round as he made it clear that he wanted the player in his team.

‘Manyovu’ impressed Sagrada technical bench in the first leg match that Leopard lost 1-3 on October 16, 2021 in Luanda where he scored the lone goal. He only played for 65 minutes in the second leg match played at Mavuso Sports Centre where Leopard won 1-0 on October 23, 2021. Sagrada eliminated Leopard in the CAF Champions League second preliminary round on 3-2 aggregate score. They are in group D of the group stages alongside Wydad Casablanca (Morocco), Zamalek (Egypt) and Petro Atletico (Angola).

Leopard Public Relations Officer (PRO) Frank Hurube confirmed that negotiations over the player were ongoing as the team has shown interest in him.
“After the second leg match, they made it clear that they were interested in the player. They then engaged us on the move of the player and so far that is what on the table,” he said. A source close to the matter said an agent was engaged in the negotiations and both parties are said to have agreed on a two year-contract. The source added that the player is due to leave on Thursday as Sagrada wants to register him for the CAF Champions League group stages game starting second week of February.

“Sagrada never wasted time as they engaged Leopard soon after the second leg match. The parties have agreed and they player is waiting for the ticket to Angola. It is a good move for him and he would be playing in the CAF Champions League which is every players dream,” said the source. Dlamini follows in the footsteps of other local players to play in central African countries being Mthunzi ‘Xavi’ Mkhontfo and Felix Badenhorst who both played for AS Vita in DR Congo. The player refused to comment on the deal when reached yesterday. He was part of the team that lost 2-3 to Moneni Pirates last Saturday in the MTN Premier League at Mavuso Sports Centre.

Grupo Desportivo Sagrada Esperança, usually known as Sagrada Esperança, is a football club from Dundo, Lunda Norte province, Angola. The club won its first title, the Angolan Cup in 1988. According to betsapi.com, the club’s name is likely to originate from Angola’s first president Agostinho Neto’s famous poem Sagrada Esperança (Sacred Hope). The club was founded on December 22, 1976 by then Angola-state owned diamond company Diamang (now Endiama), which remains as its major sponsor.
