MBABANE – Mbabane Swallows have vowed to revenge the derby 0-1 defeat to Highlanders when the two sides cross path again in the second round of the MTN Premier League.

The defeat left Swallows languishing on the seventh spot with 19 points after 12 games. Swallows Marketing and Communications Manager Mancoba Mabuza said they were in pain after losing such a crucial match. Mabuza congratulated Mbabane Highlanders for the victory and said it was a 50/50 game that could have gone either side. He said they also had a number of scoring chances but missed them and then they paid the price. “Congratulations to Highlanders for the win. We played well and those who were present at the stadium can attest to that we created scoring chances that could have seen us scoring two or three goals, but we failed to convert. Our technical bench did well and the players were all out for a win,” he said.

praise

Mabuza was full of praise for their supporters who came in numbers and filled the opposite stand from the main one. He said in all games they are playing they want to win but there is something special about winning the derby. He added that they have a chance of correcting the mistakes as they are yet to play the second round fixture. “Thumbs up to the fans who behaved well as they cheered their teams without any form of violence in such a highly profile game. Others even said they were watching Mbabane Swallows for the first time after two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. There was no violence this time around, something that we commend. The behaviour from the supporters of both clubs and all those who were present was commendable,” he said. Mbabane Swallows  will face Tinyosi in their net fixture on Saturday at King Sobhuza II Memorial Stadium. The game will start at 2:30pm.
