‘NURO’, TERISAYI FOR CALLIES

MBABANE – It is no longer just Ikabort Masocha that Tambankulu Callies must replace, but even his then assistant and caretaker coach Mduduzi ‘Nyama’ Shongwe.

The latter has followed Masocha by leaving the club in a space of less than two months. Shongwe left at the end of the first round last weekend and in his last two matches, had led Callies to a 1-all draw with Tinyosi last week while they had played to a 2-2 draw with Green Mamba a fortnight ago. It is understood he has personal commitments while Masocha left after a misunderstanding with the club director, Sithembiso Ngudze Mamba, over results, which led to the coach being hauled before a disciplinary committee. Masocha joined Denver Sundowns.

Meanwhile, Callies will use the two-week MTN Premier League break to try and get a new coach. It has been established that former Tinyosi coach, Sifiso ‘Nuro’ Ntibane and possibly Manzini Wanderers assistant coach Terisayi Changara have been shortlisted to fill the vacant head coach position. The successful candidate between the two will lead Callies until the end of the current MTN Premier League season according to our sources.

Shortlisted

This was disclosed by Ngudze yesterday. “We have shortlisted Nuro Ntibane and Terisayi Changara to lead the team for the rest of the season. They are qualified for the job. We are targeting a top four spot at the end of the season so ‘Nyama’ couldn’t be with us until then. We hope the one to take over will help us achieve our goals,” Mamba said. He said the two candidates were currently under assessment and the new head coach would be announced during the course of the week. Noteworthy is that Ntibane missed Tinyosi’s past two games after he was officially announced to have parted ways with the club and his assistant, Julias Chakupewu, assumed the coaching role.

On Shongwe’s departure, Mamba, who celebrated his 40th birthday on Valentine’s Day, which was on Monday, said the gaffer had personal commitments that required his full attention as he would be pursuing a Confederation of African Football (CAF) Coaching Licence A course. Shongwe took over as Callies’ assistant coach, leading the technical bench comprising of Bongani Sibiya following the departure of Zimbabwe-born gaffer Masocha, who found greener pastures with Hub-based Denver Sundowns. Reached for comment, Ntibane said he has a number of offers on the table, but has not made a final decision. “There’s a number of teams that approached me. When I have something official, I will let you know,” Ntibane said.
Contrary to Mamba’s announcement, Changara said; “He has not approached me. I have a one-year contract with manzini Wanderers and I am happy with that.” He further declared that he was content with his current position at Wanderers.
