MBABANE – Correctional top athlete Andile Lusenga announced his return to athletics by outclassing a group of eight athletes in the 200m race.

This was during the Athletics Eswatini (AE) track and field competition held on Saturday at Mavuso Sports Centre. This happened after he had a long lay-off due an injury. The athlete said he was happy about his performance on Saturday, but scared at the same time since he was from an injury. “My first race after recovering from the injury was on February 13, I competed on the 400m, which I won,” Lusenga said.

The Correctional athlete said he was working on qualifying for the African Championships to be held in Mauritius. The continental athletics event, which is in its 23rd edition is scheduled to take place from June 8-12, 2022 at the Cote d’or Sports Complex in Mauritius. “Once I achieve this goal, I will be happy as automatically I will be in for the Commonwealth Games next year, this means I will have to push myself hard to improve my speed and endurance,” he said.
