VUSI MBABANE GOLF CLUB CHAMP
MBABANE – After two days on the greens, Vusi Humphrey Dlamini emerged the winner of the SBS Mbabane Golf Club Championship.
Dlamini beat a field of more than 60 golfers with two days gross of 146 in category A. Noteworthy is that Dlamini won this tournament seven days after his wife, Futhi Dlamini won another major Mbabane Golf Club competition called Futi’s Chicken Cottage. On top of the main prize - ‘Futis’, as she is affectionately known also won novelties prizes of the nearest to the Pin 8/17 on Sunday and he was also scored the best gross on Sunday.

The Swaziland Building Society (SBS) sponsored tournament was played at Mbabane Golf Course. It started on Saturday and finished yesterday. Banele Mavuso was the defending champion after winning it last year and Nelsiwe Mathabela was the ladies champion. “I can say it was just our month as a family because my wife won it last week. There is no secret, just exercising and playing weekly tournaments on the Mbabane Golf Course. The sport of golf is all about luck,” said Dlamini.

Shinning in the ladies category was none other than Nosmilo Kgomo, who was the runner-up in the Futi’s Chicken Cottage sponsored tournament. She carded a score of 183 to win in the ladies category. Kgomo has been on fire lately as she also won the weekly Mbabane Golf Club Leg of Lamb which was staged this past Friday. In category B, another junior golfer, 16-year-old Siphesihle Mhlanga who carded the best gross of 162 shone in this category. “I spend most of my time on the field and it is paying off. I am looking forward to walking on the footstep of Nobuhle Dlamini. It motivates me to work extra hard in order to reach her level,” said Kgomo.
