‘SAVIOLA’, THABISO BEST IN MARCH
MBABANE – Young Buffaloes’ player Sandile ‘Saviola’ Gamedze and Hlatikhulu Tycoons striker Thabiso Sithole were yesterday presented with the Player of the Month Awards for the month of March.
The duo was selected based on their outstanding performances in the MTN Premier and National First Division leagues. Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Chief Operations Officer (COO) Pat Vilakati said the Player of the Month Award was on its own accord a motivation for player performance as witnessed in the ongoing leagues. Vilakati congratulated the players for the hard work and emphasised the importance of self-discipline combined with hard work. He thanked the leagues’ main sponsor MTN Eswatini for tabling the Player of the Month Awards which carried a purse of E6 000 for the premier league side and E2 000 for the lower division.
motivation
Vilakati said the motivation was evident in the alternating winners of the awards as Royal Leopard’s Junior Magagula scooped the title twice this season, in December and February, while Nsingizini Hotspurs defenders Philani Nhleko was February’s best player in the National First Division league. “We saw a great performance by our national team and all thanks to MTN because without you, our players wouldn’t have been active, let alone deliver the exceptional performance. That proposes that our players have grown regardless of the circumstances back at home. It is interesting to also see the change in the winners of these awards and that shows the motivation and impact of these incentives to the players,” Vilakati said. MTN Brand Communications and Sponsorship Manager Lando Dlamini also congratulated the players for their achievement. She further encouraged the sports fraternity and members of the public to support MTN services.
