MAKHANYA SIGNS TWO-YEAR DEAL
MBABANE – The Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) has given the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Kenneth Makhanya a two-year contract.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns Manager was unveiled as the CEO a day before the organisation’s Special Meeting which was held at Sigwaca House late last month. Makhanya officially started his duties at the PLE last week Friday, without an official contract binding him with the organisation. He said he was working with what was called a Heads Agreement, which is an initial, non-binding document that establishes the basic framework for a partnership. It is the first step toward creating a formal deal and due to its tentative nature, it can often be renegotiated.
The PLE Chairman Mark Carmichael confirmed that after their monthly meeting, which was held on Tuesday at Sigwaca House, the CEO was finally given his working contract. “It’s all finalised,” Carmichael briefly said and hang up. Makhanya when sort for comments confirmed that he was now working with a valid contract that would keep him at PLE for two years.
“The contract was finalised by the PLE Executive Committee during its monthly meeting on April 5, 2022. My contract is valid till August 31, 2024,” Makhanya said. He also said that there was a renewable clause in his newly-signed contract with the PLE. He further said he was committed to giving premier league football in the country the full benefit of his football management skills and experience he gained from working in a professional league in South Africa.
