FELIX BOOST FOR ‘BIRDS’
MBABANE – He is back just on time to join his teammates in the gruelling MTN Premier League title challenge.
That is experienced Eswatini former international, Felix Badenhorst. The former South Africa’s defunct Mbombela United and DStv Premiership club TS Galaxy attacking midfielder had been out since March 12, this year. He twisted his ankle during a league match with Lobamba-based Tinyosi, who are desperate to survive relegation this season with seven games to go. Swallows won the match 1-0 after netting a stoppage time winner.
However, he has hardly been missed despite that at the time he got injured at the Mavuso Sports Centre, he was also among the scorers for the red and white Umkhonto KaShaka. Swallows have won five and recorded only one draw against Milling Hot Spurs and also challenging for honours despite being on position four. They have 48 points to leaders Royal Leopard and second-placed traditional rivals Mbabane Highlanders’ 52 while Young Buffaloes have 49 in third place.
“Yes, he’s back from injury,” affirmed Swallows Marketing and Communications Manager, Mancoba Mabuza, yesterday ahead of their match against unpredictable rivals, Denver Sundowns on Saturday at the Mavuso Sports Centre in Manzini, whereby the hub derby between Moneni Pirates ad Manzini Wanderers will have preceded them at 12:30pm. Badenhorst had expected to return this week, as he had said last week ahead of their Vovovo league clash at the Prince of Wales Sports Ground. “I got injured against Tinyosi where I twisted my ankle. I think it will be two more weeks. It was really bad,” he had responded. However, he sat on the bench as unused substitute against Vovovo, a game they won 2-1 as the coaches Musa Manyatsi and Siyabonga Bhembe were not keen to rush him back. It is expected he will have a part to play this weekend.
