MBABANE – Manzini Wanderers have been dealt a major blow, as they will be without experienced defender Mandla Palma in the MTN Premier League match against Royal Leopard today.

The former Mbabane Swallows and Sihlangu player has been snubbed by the yellow card rule imposed by the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE), using Article 6 (2) of the 2021/22 MTN Premier League Rules and Regulations. Palma is not the only premier league player affected by the rule ahead of Week 29 games, scheduled to be played today in different venues across the country.

Mbabane Swallows’ right back Thabo Vilakati will watch his team’s must-win game from the stands against Manzini Sea Birds as he is also ruled out by Article 6 (2) (a). Relegated Malanti Chiefs will have to do without Sithembiso Simelane in the game against Tambankulu Callies at their slaughter house, the Tambankulu Stadium. Article 6 (2) (a) of the 2021/22 MTN Premier League Rules and Regulations states: Any player who accumulates three (3) cautions (i.e. ‘yellow cards’) in any season, shall be suspended from participation in the next one (1) match to be played by his team in any official competition under the auspices of the PLE.
