MBABANE – Eswatini international player Justice ‘Figa’ Figuareido is on DStv Premiership side Chippa United’s wish list.

The former Denver Sundowns and Sihlangu winger, had a fantastic season at South Africa’s football second-tier outfit Cape Town All Stars on loan from TS Galaxy. He scored four goals and contributed the same number of assists for ‘Igugu leKapa’, as the GladAfrica side, are widely known in football circles. The former Maritzburg United player has since been recalled by his parent team, TS Galaxy for the upcoming season. This was confirmed by the Cape Town-based side’s Coach Sinethemba Badela. “He is going back to his parent club; they want to keep him,” Badela said when asked if they would keep the player as he said he had a fantastic season with them.

The player’s good showing in the second-tier of South African football in the recently-ended 2021/2022 season has attracted suitors from the DStv Premiership in Chippa United. The latest development on Figa was revealed by Cape All Stars Manager Zukiswa Simelukane. “Do you know that Figa is back home in Eswatini and I have been contacted by Chippa United for his services, but as you know he is not our player,” Simelukane said.

The former Sihlangu forceful winger, who is currently in the country also confirmed that the ‘Chill Boys’, as Chippa United is fondly known, contacted him. “I got a call from Chippa United enquiring about my services, but nothing concrete was discussed yet as I am still contracted to TS Galaxy,” Figuareido said. He said should both teams reach an agreement he would consider the offer, but for now he was relaxing after a grueling season and looking forward to pre-season training for The Rockets in preparation for the upcoming season. It worth noting that, Figa is not part of the national team Sihlangu in camp for the 2022 COSAFA Cup alongside another international, in former Royal Leopard striker Bonginkosi ‘Manyovu’ Dlamini. The latter is now with Angolan side Sagrada Esperanca.
