REPS LOSE APPEAL, MASTERS GAME ON
MBABANE – It will resume from where it ended when the match was abandoned.
The score was Manzini Masters 9-9 REPS. This is the abandoned Dixie’s International Pool League match at Manzini Pool Club back in May between Manzini Masters and leaders Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) Pool Club. Masters abandoned the match after a REPS official allegedly spilt a substance in the playing arena. In the disciplinary committee, REPS lost the matter but appealed the verdict which saw the supporter suspended for five matches; a suspended five-point docking; while the game is to continue from 9-9.
REPS had appealed this verdict but the Appeal’s Committee appointed for the matter upheld the DC verdict as is. This meaning REPS will have to fight for the three points on the table to open a seven-point lead at the summit. Malkerns-based Way Inn are right on their tail, after Correctional Services dropped to third in the last two weeks. REPS have a pending match which is the one against Masters. “REPS Pool Club have lost their appeal to have their conviction overturned. Their suspended docking of five points has been upheld; their match against Masters is to be continued from a 9-9 scoreline. The REPS supporter is suspended for 5 (five) games effective from the date of the DC verdict. Detailed judgement to follow soon,” Dlamini explained.
He also confirmed the past weekend’s results in which the top three teams all recorded big wins, while appealing to teams with venues that have one table to try and improve next season. “It is so exhausting and time consuming to play on one pool table. The future of the sport lies on our youngsters so they should not arrive late at home. Malkerns is currently without Bandzile Gama due to that,” he said. He wished all the teams a very good week ahead.
