BRONZE MEDAL FOR CARLOTA IN RWANDA
MBABANE – She gave her best.
Taekwondo artist Carlota Munave finished third to bring home a bronze medal during the ongoing African Taekwondo Championships. Munave, who is the country’s best in the woman senior category, was competing in the +73kg. Winning in the category was Morocco’s Fatima-ezzahra Aboufaras who took home the gold medal, while Cote Divoire’s Aminata Charlene Traore was second. Munave then completed the list of podium finishers. The country is already making waves after Bongumusa Mkhatshwa hoisted the Eswatini flag last Wednesday in the African Poomsae Championships in Kigali, Rwanda. The youngster from the Next Generation Taekwondo Academy won a silver medal in the Cadets 12-14 years Poomsae category. Meanwhile, Saneliso Masuku lost in the quarterfinal having impressed in the second round where he won 15-5 against an artist from Uganda. The country’s seven athletes competed against 40 nations in the disciplines of kyorugi and poomsae at the tournament that was opened last Wednesday with the final day yesterday evening.
