FLYERS BACK IN 1ST DIVISION
MBABANE – They are back.
Ubombo Flyers who had spent over five years in the Swazi Trac Lubombo Super League, finally got promoted to the MTN National First Division. They earned the promotion after beating Home Sparrows 4-0 this past weekend in Big Bend. Their closest challengers in CK Survivors lost 0-2 to Tambankulu Celtics. The latter’s setback ensured Flyers would earn a spot in the country’s football second-tier with a game to spare. Ubombo Flyers who produced the Sikhondze brothers in Mbabane Highlanders grafter Xolani ‘Papi’ and Mbabane Swallows enterprising winger Banele ‘Pupu’ will be officially crowned champions this weekend when they play their last game. They are already champions, as second-placed CK Survivors are now four points behind, with a game to go.
Flyers that are based in Big Bend are led by their legend, who is a former player in Barnabas Maphalala. He said they got promoted through hard work from all the stakeholders of the club. He said they were aware of the tough challenges that lie ahead in the MTN National First Division. “We are happy that finally we achieved our goal of moving forward to the next stage. We are aware that competition will be tough in the National First Division just like in the Super League. We will take each game as it comes and we hope to do better. We just need to work hard,” he said.
The Lubombo Swazi Trac Super League is sponsored to the tune of E61 600.
